Hello and forgive me for the slight deviation in my usual newsletter format, but it’s launch day for my debut collection, and my first full length book so I couldn’t miss this moment to shout a wee bit about it! This is a big author milestone for me, and I’ve had the best launch day - thanks to everyone who has messaged, shared posts about Limelight, read and reviewed, and picked up the book so far!

Limelight and Other Stories is out today from Shortwave Publishing in all places where books are found, but you can find various pre-order links here or below! The book is a collection of over twenty high-concept dark science fiction tales from near and far futures.

The title novelette—about a young woman brought back from near death by experimental tech, only to find her parents had her altered before she woke—anchors this collection. Lyndsey's work explores the bright potential and the dark reality of our near and far futures through the lenses of connection and loneliness, love and heartbreak, autonomy and exploitation, desire and greed, wonder and despair. Launching Limelight on September 5th!

I’m very much looking forward to launching Limelight at Argonaut Books, at a now sold out (!) launch, which is super exciting! I’ll be there with author and writing friend Katalina Watt, chatting all things Limelight, technology, and horror - along with cake, wine, tea, and some exclusive launch merch (check out these very cool pamphlets my publisher and I cooked up!) A live interview with Frasier Armitage of FanFiAddict!

It was great to chat to author Frasier Armitage for what I think was my first ever live author interview on launch day eve - you can watch it here as we chat all things weird technology, dangers of AI, writing processes, short fiction, sci fi and horror mashups and more! I had the best time!

Coming up!

I’m excited to have also recorded a podcast interview with Chris Gregory at Alternative Stories & Fake Realities alongside my publisher Alan Lastufka at Shortwave. We talked about Limelight, sci fi and horror, and indie publishing and writing. Alt Stories will also be dramatising one of the stories in the collection (with what might be my audio drama acting debut too…!), and I’ll be reading an excerpt from the title novelette as well! So watch this space - the episode should drop on September 20th!

I am sure I’m missing something in the launch day hype, but if you got this far, again a huge thank you to everyone who has picked up a copy and read and reviewed, or even told your sci fi and horror loving pals about the book!
